Estancia originating from the 1780's/90's turned into a charming inn, rustic yet sophisticated, offering magnificent views over the countryside of the Maldonado hillcountry
The u-shaped building is surrounded by a picturesque and intimate garden, shaded by centuries old Ombú trees.
The estate's history can be traced back to the independence wars, when one of the "33 Orientales" placed a patrol of soldiers their, thus converting them to the first settlers of this part of Uruguay.

Nicolás García Uriburu whose paintings are to be seen in several rooms of the Posada, acquired the estate from the direct decendents : the Egusquiza family. He and Blanca Alvarez de Toledo restored the mansion with due respect to its ancient origin.

The arabian horses, the sheep and cattle, the lush vegetation will all enchant nature lovers.

The Posada is located just 7 km from Punta del Este / La Barra
(from La Barra Ancap petrol station take the old Camino Egusquiza towards San Carlos and look out for sign on the left after about 7,5 km)
